The Search Term Isolation Method

There are multiple methods for managing your Amazon PPC campaigns.
A popular and result-driven method is called the search term isolation method which is known to achieve optimal results. Using it requires building a solid campaign structure

This approach continuously generates search terms which are negated to exact keywords based on their performance where their bids are optimized.

The basics behind this method are:

  • Each search term can appear only one time in one match type (no duplications).
  • There are 3 steps to negating a search term:
    • Step #1 – add keyword in all 3 match types (Exact, Phrase, Broad)
    • Step #2 – add keyword as negative exact in the phase campaign
    • Step #3 – add keyword as negative phrase in the broad campaign
  • Tips:
    • Exact match is for sales; Phrase and broad are for research.
    • Bid management for ACoS (targeted keywords) is done only in an exact match campaign.
    • For Phrase and Broad – instead of lowering bid – use negative exact.

When using this approach you should make sure you’re campaign budgets are not running out
